Cores with distributed gap for output choke

MSC series

Toroidal cores of the MSC series with a distributed gap are made of a thin (18 ± 2 μm) amorphous iron-based AMAG202 ribbon. The distributed gap, obtained due to a special mode of thermomagnetic treatment, allows to obtain magnetic cores of minimum dimensions, helps to reduce losses, high manufacturability, and low cost.

With a high saturation induction (1.4 T) and a typical magnetic permeability of 290, magnetic cores have higher DC bias properties and require fewer winding turns compared to other competing materials such as ferrites, iron-based PMDs, sendast and permalloy. ...

MSC series small choke cores are a good solution for the implementation of miniature DC / DC converters for mobile devices, adapters, chargers, miniature car devices, hybrid integrated circuits, differential filter chokes, etc.

IMPORTANT: When using a wire with a diameter of more than 0.45 mm, in order to eliminate pressure on the magnetic material, we recommend using magnetic cores in a plastic container (MSCB).

Design

The MSC series is available in three designs:

  • 1. The coiled ribbon core is impregnated and placed in a protective aluminum foil container (MSCL). The container has an insulating coating (chemical phosphate oxidation), rounded edges and is designed for direct wrapping. Be careful when winding with thick wire. A thin-walled container is small, but does not guarantee protection against mechanical pressure on the tape, which leads to a decrease in magnetic characteristics.
  • 2. Flame retardant plastic container (MSCB). A plastic container with a rigid structure and rounded edges provides reliable mechanical protection of the magnetic circuit from external influences while maintaining its properties, as well as the ability to apply winding with a large diameter wire.
  • 3. Coated with epoxy powder paint (MSCP).

Temperature range from –60 °C to +125 °C.
